Application Design Ⅱ

Final project

Final progress

I started by coding the login page and the first few pages, aligning the elements and testing it out was quite hard for me as this is my first time coding an application like this. I wanted to add movement and animations but I kept getting errors and bugs

Further On I focused on designing all the pages rather than putting a lot of time and effort into one page as i do not have the luxury to spend a lot of time on this since this assignment deadline is due pretty soon, So i started referencing from figma and consistently worked on designing and aligning each page until it achieved a satisfactory resemblance to the envisioned design.

Later on I realized the alignment looks very weird and I couldn't really solve this issue so I created  a desktop-sized page and put the frames inside so aesthetically it looks better

After this, I had to create drawers for some pages as this is an e-hailing app that has different payment methods and other popup features such as timing, passengers etc ect

I could not figure out how at first so I made an entirely new page and made a popup frame container so that it could direct it like a drawer

After A lot of experimenting, errors, time and effort. I finally made it to the last page of the app which is "finish ride" It took much much longer than I expected as my coding skills aren't great but I tried my best to code and bring this project to life

It frequently didn't work, even though I could reason through the solution in my head and believe I could carry it out in this manner.

I put all the SVG and PNG files Into a folder and renamed them so that I could put them in the code more easily

Experiences
When we started this module, I didn't think we'd go back to working on the app from before in application design 1. It was a bit confusing to code the whole app again, but it turned out to be interesting. I had to use more than just HTML and CSS for trickier pages.

Now, I understand that HTML helps mark up content, and CSS is for making things look good. Even though I finished making the app look nice, I realised I could have written the code in a smarter way for the same design.

Looking back, some parts of the app might not work as well as they could. It makes me wonder if there are better ways to make everything in the app work smoothly.

Observation
I learned some new things from this module such as containers, aligning and responsiveness. I feel like the time given wasn't quite a lot but I still managed to finish this project somehow. I'm not really happy with the final design because I expected to do a lot of animations and interactions which I failed to do so because of errors but still I'm happy that at least I was able to finish coding the entire thing which seemed impossible at first

Findings
I had anticipated a more comprehensive scope in this module, encompassing elements like empathy research, collaborative communication, user research strategy, or the inclusion of responsive design. Solely focusing on coding appears overly general and uninspiring for a UI/UX design module. From insights shared by a senior UX designer with over two decades of experience, it's apparent that extensive coding skills aren't commonly required for most UX designers, at least not at an advanced level. While a foundational understanding of coding can be advantageous, the primary responsibility for coding lies with developers. Consequently, the emphasis on extensive coding tasks within this module seems incongruous with the typical expectations for UI/UX designers. Nonetheless, acquiring additional skills is always beneficial, and while challenging, navigating through this module wasn't entirely easy to finish
