Instructions

To complete this task, we must design a font that meets one of the requirements listed below.
  • Create a font that is intended to solve a larger problem or meant to be part of a solution in the area of your interest be it graphic design, animation, new media or entertainment design or any other related area not necessarily reflecting your specialization. End result: a complete typeface generated (.ttf) + applications.
  • Explore the use of typeface in your area of interest, understand its existing relationship, identify areas that could be improved upon, explore possible solutions or combinations that may add value to the existing typeface. End result: a complete typeface generated (.ttf) + applications.
  • Experiment. For your idea to qualify as an experiment it must be novel and unique — working with material that might be 3- dimensional, digitally augmented, edible, unusual, typographic
  • music video or fine art. End result: defined by student.

Mind map

Whether or not we realize it, design plays a big role in how we perceive the value of a product. From books, to snacks, to beauty products, the power is often in the packaging.

So when it comes time to design an ad, or a product label, or a logo, put some thought into the font designs you use. There’s a good chance they can influence how people perceive your marketing content and your product.

Typography: Anatomy of a Letterform

Typography is not just about choosing the beautiful font to display text and create a mood for the project. It is much more than that. It underlies the success of every project. The deal is, much like color, typeface styles used in a design have a significant impact on the way a user perceives that design.
